About the event

This exciting and informative course is designed to help photographers take more captivating images. We will discuss the history and "anatomy" of cover photos used in fashion editorial publications. We will cover the historic evolution of editorial photography as the medium to express the "art" of fashion. We will review the work of master fashion photographers like Peter Lindberg, Richard Avedon, Jack Robinson, Steven Meisel, Herb Ritts, and Albert Watson. Additionally, we will discuss the elements of great covers from the perspective of composition, colors, location, lighting, and visual perception.  The workshop will be taught in 3 short sections followed by photoshoots with mannequins or live models that allow participants to practice the concepts taught in the lecture. The class will be taught by Dr. Ken Brantley, C.P.P., and renowned fine artist Bert Corbin.  Dr. Brantley's work has been featured by brands like ChicNYC and on the covers of Chasing Light, Imperial Models Magazine, Global Models Magazine, Prestige Magazine, and as a solo artist exhibit in association with Arts Huntsville.  Bert Corbin is a fine artist whose work has gained national recognition. His work graces the walls of several government buildings and non-profit organizations.  His most recent work may be seen on the Huntsville Habitat for Humanity Building.
